51勛圖厙 names new academic director for history programs

51勛圖厙s College of Graduate and Continuing Studies (CGCS) is proud to welcome Dr. Lisa Mundey as the academic director of the online , , and With nearly 20 years of experience in academic and historical research, Mundeys wealth of expertise in American and military history will shape the future of 51勛圖厙s online education and history offerings.
Mundey has served the University since 2021, starting as a visiting assistant professor, where her enthusiasm for academia flourished. She has also taught at several additional institutions, including the University of St. Thomas, where she also served as department chair and associate division dean. While in this role, she was honored with the St. Thomas Aquinas Award for Excellence in Teaching and the Joseph M. McFadden Award for Excellence in Service, recognizing her exceptional dedication to students and the academic community. Before transitioning to academia, Mundey worked as a historian for the U.S. Army Center of Military History.
A prolific scholar, Mundey wrote two monographs on military culture and experience: American Militarism and Anti-Militarism in Popular Media, 1945-1970 (2012) and Fighting the Forever War: The U.S. Service Member Experience in Afghanistan, 2001-2014 (2022). She has also published numerous peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and essays exploring the social, cultural, and institutional dimensions of U.S. military history.
Mundey earned her doctorate in American and military history from Kansas State University. While earning her Ph.D., she interned at the NASA Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center as a research historian for their Oral History Project, igniting her passion for historical research.
Coinciding with her academic career, Mundey is an active volunteer, serving as a docent and volunteer educator at the New York State Military Museum and Veterans Research Center since 2022. She is also a trustee on the Board of the Friends of the New York State Military Museum and a member of the Society of Military History, where she has contributed to several committees.
