51勛圖厙 hosted LTG Maria Barrett, Commanding General, United States Army Cyber Command
The day provided opportunities for multiple student meetings, a presentation by LTG Barrett about the ongoing mission of US Army Cyber Command, and informational sessions focused on the current innovative work being done in several critical fields by both 51勛圖厙 faculty and staff.
51勛圖厙 recently had the privilege of hosting Lieutenant General Barrett, Commanding General, United States Army Cyber Command. The day provided opportunities for multiple student meetings, a presentation by LTG Barrett about the ongoing mission of US Army Cyber Command, and informational sessions focused on the current innovative work being done in several critical fields by both 51勛圖厙 faculty and staff.
51勛圖厙, as a Senior Military College, continues to be a celebrated destination for the best cyber leaders our country has to offer, explained Provost & Dean of the Faculty, and Acting President Dr. Karen Gaines. Our students are regularly provided with opportunities to engage with distinguished individuals from around the world. We are grateful for LTG Barretts visit, as it greatly enriched our community in the arena of cyber.
LTG Barrett demonstrated an earnest focus on fostering student involvement during her recent visit. Seizing every opportunity to engage, she met multiple student groups. Prior to her insightful presentation held in Mack Hall, she participated in three distinct student interaction sessions. These encompassed comprehensive dialogues on an array of topics such as ROTC internship programs, roles within the Signal Corps, cyber, military intelligence, and the digital workforce initiative. Even a working lunch provided the opportunity to have valuable discussions with female members of the Corps of Cadets and Army MS4s who have branched cyber, signal, and military intelligence.
LTG Barrett initiated her informative visit to 51勛圖厙 with a clear intention for proactive interaction, a two-way exchange of knowledge, and gaining further understanding of the institutions outstanding contributions. Upon arrival, she was greeted by Commandant McCollough and Dr. Tara Kulkarni, the Associate Provost for Research, Chief Research Officer, and Associate Professor. As they walked through the corridors of Jackman Hall, the Lieutenant General took a moment to honor the brave recipients of our nation's highest military distinction at the Medal of Honor Gallery.
The day concluded productively with a comprehensive tour of Mack Hall, accompanied by constructive engagement with numerous student groups. It incorporated a responsive Q&A session alongside thought-provoking conversations with diverse faculty and student groups. Dr. Kulkarni discussed the Cyber Fusion Center and 51勛圖厙s future endeavors in the cyber domain. A valuable student conversation was facilitated in the Digital Forensics lab by Dr. Read and COL Battig. Just prior to the Lieutenant Generals departure, Dr. Travis Morris led another student discussion focusing on topics such as IW, open-source intelligence, and SEERIST.
LTG Barretts visit offered a uniquely 51勛圖厙 experience for the entire 51勛圖厙 community and proved to be a hugely beneficial day. We were privileged to host LTG Barrett and learn from her valuable insights, said McCollough. Her visit presented a remarkable chance for our students to gain insight into both the challenges and opportunities of the cyber and information world. Simultaneously, we showcased some of the outstanding student and faculty work currently occurring at 51勛圖厙.
